Needed new front tyres for my car. Two of my friends are using Falken Ziex 512 on their car and have good things to say about them. However one of them bought his in Klang and the other one in Batu Pahat. With the recent petrol price hike, I don't really see the point saving a little while spending money on petrol. So tried to find a shop selling them around Ampang and Pandan area but didn't find one.
Previously did a bit of browsing on the net and visiting a few tyre shops around Pandan and Ampang, and had the BF Goodrich g-force sports (get it?) as a second choice. Opinions on tyres are a dime a dozen, but the tyre had two relatively good reviews at
Tirerack and
1010tires.
After not being free for a couple of months due to work, I decided to actively find new tyres on Sunday. After trying to find a shop along Ampang, it rained heavily so I started back to my place where the rain stopped. Deciding against going back along Jalan Ampang and remembering a new tyre shop opening a few hundred metres away from my place, I decided to go there.
They had Michellin and Yokohamas mostly but they had also BF Goodrich g-force sports at RM180 per tyre. So decided to take them. The job was done in about half hour plus alignment. Total bill amounted to RM375 plus RM15 for alignment after 50% discount on it. However the mechanic did note that my wear are mostly on the outside and this is due to under inflation. I guess the car makers tyre pressure reccomendation are not correct. So will try pressure at 32 psi for the new future.
First thought on it after a few hundred metres of driving. Not really quiet, but better than the NCT 5.
After two days of driving short distance on the tyres I guess the reviews are mostly correct. It is more responsive and grippy. However I think I can't really compare my old NCT 5 withe the new tyres as it has been a long time since I've driven te NCT 5 while it is new. Some characteristics I might still remember as there was a few instances where I pushed the car when I recently got it.
