A Nice Evening at the Corniche

I spent two mornings of the past week at the Dubai International Airport because of work, althought it was a public holiday here.

Although I did get a nice camera cover for my Minolta and Blackadder Season 1, 2 and 4 while browsing through the duty free.

And I got to mention which division I would prefer to be put in, if I get transferred back to Malaysia, which I think would be the first half of next year.

I came in the office very late on Wednesday, after recovering from the last two nights and the flu I had. While there I received a call that the Malaysians are having a BBQ at the corniche (seaside park).

I went at about 1830 hrs from the office and stopped at the Co-op to buy a couple of bottles of Sprite and watermelon.

After I arrive, there was the usual banter, preparing of the charcoals etc. Although I do notice that BBQ are mostly men's work, I think it's the only time the females get to laze about and wait for the men to cook.

The food was in abundance, I started slowly, testing the fare hot from the grill. After that I really dug in. Man was I full. There was also fireworks display near the corniche which was a nice surprise.

The children were playing football. After a while the grown ups decided to join in. With my full belly it was surprising I didn't end up at the side of the park heaving it all out. I still have my old moves, I don't dribble well, but I jink well and pass well, although it was with kids half my size, at this age you take what you can get, although I would like to remind myself I'm only as old as Zinedine Zidane. Although I took two Ponstans before going to bed and my ankle still aching today.

Was supposed to go and see the Dubai Rugby 7 at the Exiles stadium in Dubai today, but I'm still stuck in the office, well have to go tomorrow, I got season tickets. Maybe I can catch Kill Bill or Matrix Revolutions today.

Anyway, here's a couple of pictures from the BBQ.

Don't you like my Kangol cap? I do!

The guys!
